Puppy Training Tips

If interested in a puppy from Pets in the County please begin by emailing and requesting information on your desired breed.

Step1: Deposit

  • We do not take deposits until AFTER pups are born but we do take “reservation for a waiting list”
  • Once pups are born and a few weeks old we take pictures and email everyone on the waiting list to see if still interested.
  • At that point you can place a deposit via Email Interact Transfer.
  • If families do not want to place a deposit they can still be on the waiting list – but deposits take priority over non deposit appointments.

Step 2: Deposit

  • We do not take deposits until AFTER pups are born but we do take “reservation for a waiting list”
  • Once pups are born and a few weeks old we take pictures and email everyone on the waiting list to see if still interested.
  • At that point you can place a deposit via Email Interact Transfer.

Step 3: Visiting Your Puppy

  • Pictures will be sent periodically.
  • We wait for any visiting until puppies are around 7 weeks old, vet checked, vaccinated and dewormed.
  • At the time of visit the puppies should also be ready to be taken home.
  • We can hold a puppy for up to 7 days after choosing.

Adoption Policy:

Our Policy for reserving and picking a puppy is as follows:

I send out pictures of newborn pups and Mom and ask for deposits ($300)

When the pups are approx. 5 weeks old I send out new pictures to families that placed deposits. We find this is a good time for pups where features are more pronounced.

When the pups are 7-8 weeks of age, we invite families, based on the order of deposit received, to come and pick out their puppy. At the “choosing appointment” families will be able to take their puppy home with them.

It is our Policy to eliminate stress and disease that puppies and Mom can develop therefore we do not allow visitors to see, touch or play with pups until they are Vet Checked, Vaccinated, Dewormed and Parasite treated – this occurs by the time they are 7 weeks old.

We also find that 7 weeks is a good time to see developing personalities and gives families a better sense of which puppy will suit their family’s needs.

Because we do ask for a deposit without seeing the litter before 7 week of age we are more than willing to move the deposit to a future litter if you come and view the available pups and find no suitable match for your family in the litter for the deposit placed.

Deposit policy:

By placing a deposit we (Pets in the Country) make a commitment and obligation to you to save a puppy the following will apply. We will refund or transfer deposits to future litters based on the info below.

Deposit refund Policy

If you come and meet the pup at 7-8 weeks the following applies (the key here is to come and meet the pup before you make a decision to cancel)

Because we do ask for a deposit without seeing the litter before 7 week of age we are more than willing to move the deposit to a future litter if you come and view the available pups and find no suitable match for your family in the litter for the deposit placed.

If you cancel without coming to meet the pup at 7-8 weeks the following applies

  • Any cancellations BEFORE the pups are 3 weeks old – we will transfer the complete deposit to another litter
  • Any cancellations BETWEEN 3-5 weeks old – we will transfer 50% of the deposit to another litter.
  • Any cancellations after 5 weeks old (after new pictures are sent) deposit will be 100% non refundable or non transferable.
